Satisfactory Academic Progress for UC Tuition Remission

Employees of the University of Cincinnati are provided UC tuition remission as part of their employment package. Students (employees, spouses, domestic partners, and dependents) who receive this benefit are subject to a satisfactory progress measure that promotes course completion consistent with degree-seeking students using federal aid.

Board Rule 30-13-07 states that continued eligibility for tuition remission is contingent upon maintaining satisfactory progress based on criteria established by Student Financial Aid.

Students receiving tuition remission are required to achieve a 2.0 GPA after their first year of enrollment and are limited in the number of credit hours in which they can receive non-satisfactory grades (including, but not limited to, I’s, UW’s, W’s, X’s, NG’s, and F’s).

Questions on tuition remission changes instituted by the passing of Board Rule 30-13-07 should be directed to TRQuestions@uc.edu.

Students who are receiving tuition remission and federal aid are subject to both measures of progress for the respective funding sources. Tuition remission students receiving federal aid should also review the federal academic progress policy

Continued eligibility for federal aid and tuition remission will be determined separately based on the unique progress policy of each funding source.
